#BooksLightMeUp: Stop writing books nobody reads by Debbie Jenkins

Lisa De Caux • 12 May 2023

Planning to write a business book? A great place to start.

I’ve been told that books light me up. Fiction and non-fiction. Ones that are new to me and ones that I’m rereading.

If you’re planning to write a business book, this would be a great place to start.

The subtitle is ‘The dangerously effective way to write and publish a book that people read and refer’.

It gets to the point quickly.

And you’ll get value just from reading the contents page.

I recommend getting into the detail though.

As ‘moreish as the next Netflix series’

Debs suggests that you aim to make your book as ‘moreish as the next Netflix series.’

And that describes this book 🀩

I was chuffed to have the chance to edit this book – the close read part of my edit felt like I was chatting with Debs! That’s her style.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Debs Jenkins for the last couple of years on a number of projects. She’s infectious, engaging, so very knowledgeable, curious about everything, and fun 🀩

Short-listed for the Business Book Awards

This book is a Short Valuable Book from Intellectual Perspective Press, using cohort publishing.

Stop writing books nobody reads and DOING intentionally by Karen Currier, both from the first cohort, were finalists in the Business Book Awards 2023.

Every page offers value

There are stacks of endorsements inside Stop writing books nobody reads

One that really caught my eye was: ‘Short, sharp and shrewd – a dazzling two-hour crash course in how to get your business book right first time.’ Ian Shircore, pro ghostwriter, author of Conspiracy, NLP and the New Manager, and many more.

Every page offers value. And it feels easy to wrap your arms around this book, engage with it, and use its thoughts (and straightforward lists) to take action. Stop writing books nobody reads lights me up πŸ’‘

And the title makes me smile πŸ˜„
