Privacy policy
This page sets out Lisa de Caux | LdC Editorial’s policies on data protection and the personal data of all business contacts – primarily customers (actual and potential), service/product providers (actual and potential) and fellow editors and proofreaders.
It is intended to ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is effective from 25 May 2018 and the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
Data protection
- All project-related files are stored on a password-protected computer that only I control.
- All emails for projects are stored securely on password-protected devices.
- Files are a) password protected and stored securely on dedicated RAID based storage locally b) automatically synchronised and held securely in the “cloud”, using industry standard security.
- I have taken steps to protect the security of information on my mobile phone and external hard drives.
- I have a security procedure in place that ensures all personal data is irretrievably wiped from all old devices before I dispose of them.
Personal data
- So that I can provide you with a service, respond to your enquiries, and keep you up to date with new services/availability, I collect and keep the following minimal information: a) name; b) contact postal address (in the case of clients); c) email address; and d) information pertinent to your enquiry (e.g. word count, nature of project, whether you're an author or editor.
- After your project is completed, I keep your data for my internal accounting processes (e.g. so I can invoice you) and so that I am compliant with my tax authority (HMRC).
- I collect your data directly (i.e. when you provide your details).
- I will not sell, lease or distribute your personal information to third parties without your written permission unless I am compelled by law to do so.
- You can opt out of any marketing communications at any time by emailing me.
- All new and existing clients are made aware of my Privacy Policy via my Terms and Conditions and/or a link on my website www.ldceditorial.co.uk.
Data complaints
1. In line with the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, you have the right to complain directly to me about the way I use your data.
2. My complaints procedure is: email your complaint to lisa@ldceditorial.co.uk using the subject ‘Data complaint’ to label your email.
3. I will acknowledge your complaint and respond within 30 days.
